Hello

At MATlab, our research focuses on the vital relationship between skeletal muscle and adipose tissue and how this duo impacts health and disease. Our team investigates the physiological functions of muscle and fat, exploring how they contribute to obesity and related health issues. We delve into the acute and chronic effects of obesity on cardiometabolic risk factors, aiming to understand the differences between childhood-onset and adulthood-onset obesity.

Our Story

Our work includes characterizing various types of adipose tissue, such as visceral and subcutaneous fat, to uncover their distinct roles in health. We also conduct exercise-based and lifestyle intervention programs, seeking effective strategies for weight management and chronic disease prevention. With a strong belief in the transformative power of exercise, we study how it remodels cellular structures and regulates gene expression, ultimately revitalizing both body and mind.

At MATlab, we are passionate about harnessing the power of exercise as a preventive measure and therapeutic tool. We invite enthusiastic graduate students and researchers from diverse backgrounds in exercise science, biomedical science, and related fields to join our efforts at MATlab, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to advancing health through science. Our work not only advances scientific knowledge but also aims to translate findings into real-world applications that promote healthier lifestyles and better health outcomes for individuals.
